Orphanage Work (Casa Hogar)

A few weeks ago we were made aware of an orphanage next door to the shelter for the old folks. After visiting, I decided to bring some of the youth to visit and see if this could be an ongoing part of the ministry happening here

Well, we had a great time. The youth, as always, did a great job with the kids. I had a nice conversation with the director of the two orphanages (one for boys and one for girls).

This Casa Hogar basically survives by faith. No help from the gov't, even though they bring them kids. A couple churches and individuals provide nearly all of their needs. I am excited to be helping them starting this fall. Saturday mornings(with the youth) and teaching english to the older kiddos (jr and sr high school).

Fall is coming!

I know it has been a while since I have posted whats going on here. 

August is a slower month. Classes for the fall community center start in September. Doing some random projects, helping at the Old Folks shelter, church stuff, etc. 

I finished, yesterday, painting and getting the community center ready for classes. How do things become so cluttered, unorganized and dirty in such a short time? 

Anyways, the inside and the outside is ready. NOW, I am knee deep in lesson plans and promoting fall classes! 

This fall, in Las Palmas, we will be offering

- English (in different styles)

- Baking

- Crafts

- Country Dance

- Board game evening

- Wednesday evening bible study (first in Palmas)

- Youth group activities

It will be busy busy but hopefully pretty darn great!

Sendero de Vida- Jesus Maria 2015 Baptisms

11 wonderful people were baptized on Sunday in the Jesus Maria church! Truly an event to be celebrated!
